About the Alliance

An academy founded on quiet rigor and cultural fluency.

Established by a circle of practicing doulas, lactation consultants, and pediatric clinicians, the International Asian Doula Alliance was created to give North America's growing Asian and multicultural families a professional standard of perinatal care.

We believe that the act of supporting a family through birth and the months that follow is among the most consequential work a person can do. It deserves the seriousness of medicine, the patience of teaching, and the discretion of an old craft.

Our cohorts are small. Our faculty have practiced for decades. Our curriculum is revised each year against current evidence and against the lived realities of the families we serve. We teach in both English and Mandarin because care is best given in one's mother tongue.

Plate II · The Quiet Hand

Our principles

Four ideas that shape every classroom and every visit.

Evidence over folklore

Traditions are honored, but never above what current evidence requires.

Presence as profession

Stillness, attention, and discretion are taught with the rigor of any clinical skill.

Bilingual, by design

Our care—and our coursework—lives in both English and Mandarin.

Cohorts, not classes

Small groups, lifelong faculty mentorship, and an alumni network that remains close.
